Flag Football, October 2009

It was a gorgeous day for flag football.  Both Quinn and Kallen had games.  Two apiece to make up for missed games last week because of thunderstorms.  They both played really well, and I got some good footage.  I added some music so you don't have to listen to my commentary.  ;)

Enjoy!

We (heart) Victoria!

The family took our first summer vacation this year to Victoria, BC on the Victoria Clipper. We had an absolute blast!!! We took some tour buses, visited Butchart Gardens, wandered the water front, China town market, and swam in the hotel pool a ton. It was gorgeous weather, and we are ready to go back!
Eva posted a bunch of pictures on smugmug, so check them out, eh!

Pre Easter fun!

Eva hosted a table at a "tea" fundraiser for the Lake Wilderness Arboretum on April 5, 2009.  At her table was mom, Gigi, Jill, Clara, Emily, Emily's mom Linda, Juliet, Mirenne, and Juliet's mother-in-law Gloria.  They got all dolled up, and had a great time. :):)

We had daffodils bloom in our backyard, and Eva picked a beautiful bunch for our table.  Humphrey was hanging out one evening, and found himself a nice Easter salad.

Mirenne and Tallinn spent the night with us during spring break.  While they were here the kids enjoyed coloring Easter eggs.  They were awesome!

Kal in the school play

Kal took a page from my younger-days book and participated in his school play.  He played the Coachman from Pinocchio, and was a S-T-A-R!  He spoke clearly, was just the right touch of evil, and had a blast.  Gramma and Grampa, Emily, Jill, Clara, Emmett and our friends Juliet and Mirenne all attended the evening performance, and gave rave reviews.  Next up: Broadway.  :)  More pictures on smugmug.

Kal's birthday

We went to the local Family Fun Center for Kallen's birthday.  He had a bunch of friends there, and almost the entire local family made it, too!  It was a blast.  They played laser tag, video games and ate pizza.  Perfect for an 8 year old.  :)  There are a ton more pictures on smugmug.

Hanging with the guineas

We got two new guinea pigs for Kallen's birthday.  One for Kallen, and another "for the family."  Kallen's is black and named Shadow.  The other is brown and white, and named Humphrey B.  (Humphrey is a hamster in books that the boys have read, and "B" is for "Big" since guinea pigs are bigger than hamsters). They are both males (Eva and I double checked) and they seem to get along pretty good.  We have had a bit of trouble with them doing the Alpha routine, and they have given each other a bite or two, but we are hoping that will calm down once they get used to their new digs.  We built them a cool little hutch out of coroplast (plastic cardboard) and wire shelves.

There are more photos at Jeff's smugmug site.

Some recent pictures

Today (March 14, 2009) the boys just decided to make breakfast in bed for Eva and I.  We were treated to cereal, toast and english muffins, and milk and juice (they don't know how to make coffee).  They weren't super successful at being secret "Mom, what are you going to make yourself for breakfast this morning?", but it was so sweet and we had a blast!  Here is a pic of Eva and her boys:

On Friday (March 13, 2009) I helped Eva again at popcorn.  And I made sure to take a picture that didn't make me look like some homeless dude asking kids for money (see picture from a few weeks ago).  Here I am BEFORE the recess onslaught!  :)

Zoo Trip with Kallen's class

I (Noel) went with Kallen's 2nd grade class to the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle on March 4.  It was a great day for the zoo, and I took some fun pictures.  Check 'em out!

Pics from 2nd grade concert

These are pics from Kallen's 2nd grade concert in February 2009.  They did songs from different parts of the world.  It was awesome.

Fantasy Football Awards

We finally met for our FF awards ceremony.  Jeremy G won the championship, and Ryan came in second place.  Brian won some money for having the most 'points' for the season (and he came in 3rd place).  We had a great season, and a fun time at Azteca!

Lego Chess Battle

Quinn has a chess board on his desk, and he used it to create a cool battle scene using his Lego Star Wars figures.  I thought we would share with everyone as to spread the awesomeness.  :)

Vote in this great poll

NPRs Planet Money (my favorite podcast) is having a poll to "name this crisis".  Cast your vote!  There are some good ones.

A graphic to show how bad banks are doing

This comes from a blog that was linked to from NPRs Planet Money.  This shows the market cap of a number of large banks now vs. last year.  If you don’t know, market cap means the value of the bank in the stock market (i.e. If shares are $1 and there are a million shares out in the market, then the market cap = $1 million)

Crazy weather here in WA

We are fine and dry, but there are all sorts of areas that are under water or near flooding.  The street near our house on the way to the kid's school has a creek that is JUST right up to the street.  Hopefully it can hold on until it recedes.  There is a cool little site my neighbor put up with his OWN weather station.  So you KNOW it is the weather that I am experiencing (short of a few hundred yards).
